Ozil claims he will discuss his future with Gunners hierarchy soon but his compatriot Micheal Ballack thinks Ozil is waiting to see if Arsene Wenger stays at Emirates. The German international’s future has been the subject of huge speculation this season, with the midfielder’s contract due to expire in the summer of 2018.
Ballack thinks his fellow countryman is playing the waiting game over a new deal, to see if Wenger extends his stay at the Emirates. Ballack told Sky Sports:”It is difficult to say really (if he should stay at Arsenal).”
“A player like him, who has played for Real Madrid and now Arsenal and who knows the Premier League and La Liga, he has his own feeling and experience.
“And there are not many clubs where he can go now and who can afford him. I think he needs to feel comfortable with the decision that he makes.” The former Chelsea man continued. “But it also depends on what Arsene Wenger does and they have a good relationship and maybe that is why he is waiting a bit.”
Ozil, who joined Arsenal from Real Madrid for £42.5million four years ago, has come in for heavy criticism during his time in England, and has often been accused of going missing in big games.
