Jurgen Klopp’s original plan was to begin the friendly against Hertha Berlin with Divock Origi leading his attack but the Belgium international suffered cramp in the warm-up and was pulled out as a precaution, opening the door for Solanke.
He took full advantage by scoring the opening goal and helping create the second as Liverpool – who were captained by Barcelona target Philippe Coutinho – sauntered to a 3-0 win, recording their fourth victory and third clean sheet in five friendlies.
Liverpool opene the scoring early on, courtesy of a looping header from new signing Dominic Solank. Liverpool doubled their lead on 37 minutes when Georginio Wijnaldum calmly found the bottom corner. Mohamed Salah hit the back of the net once more for Liverpool, chipping the ‘keeper on the hour mark for 3-0.
